A school girls team from Wales, Christ College Becon, travelling through Eastern and Southern Ontario for 10 days, played in a exhibition match vs Nepean U18 girls team @ Minto last night. The Nepean team, comprised of the Ontario East U16 Summer Games team plus a few wiley veterans from the club, played a stellar match. The game was very exciting, great scoring opportunities for both sides. After the 2 x 30 minute game at 0-0.
They decided to go into a 5 minute sudden death overtime. Two minutes into the OT, the Welsh pressed on and scored a goal. Great game by all participants.
For most this was their first international match. The teams did a walk-on in true international tradition and Nepean gave out Ottawa and Canada pins. Post match the Welsh team gave our girls beautiful ties with their school colors.
After a quick splash, both contingents met at a local establishment for pizza. Followed by more laughter, exchange of addresses, BFF, super night!
