WE ARE HIRING
Thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program we are hiring 4 staff members to help us run the club and deliver on our biggest projects! The CSJ positions are for Canadians 30 years and under and those who are legally eligible to work in Canada. All four positions will be full time for 16 weeks at a rate of $16-20/hr.

We will conduct interviews at the end of March 2023 and will post updates on this page if a position has been filled. The four positions are listed below:
1) Operation Coordinator
This person will be responsible for the planning and delivery of programs. This is a big job! We are looking for someone who is extremely organized, has self initiative, and isn’t afraid to talk to strangers.
The coordinator will oversee the day to day operations such as planning, preparation, execution, and communication of the Club’s field hockey programming. The coordinator will report to the President. Essential responsibilities of the position include:
- Coordinator will be the holder of the master coach and trainer schedule. They will create and fill the master coach and trainer schedule for all programs for the duration of the summer. This includes all communication with each coach and trainer
- Coordinate and plan field hockey events such as tournaments, clinics, and other assigned events
- Ensure quality control at all field hockey events.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the trainers
- Collect and approve the trainers time sheets.
The coordination aspect of the job will be done from your computer at home, while the delivery aspect of the job will be done at the field. This role will be full time at 35 hours a week for 16 weeks. The pay will be $20/hour, paid bi-weekly. The coordinator is expected to:
- have their own computer to work from. We primarily use MS Office for our organization so knowledge of MS tools is a huge bonus.
- attend several scheduled field hockey sessions often on weeknights and weekends (this is part of the 35 hrs/wk) and is responsible for their own transportation to and from the field.
2) Assistant Operation Coordinator
This person will support the Operation Coordinator to ensure the programs are delivered with the highest quality! We are looking for someone with energy, who is a great problem solver, and can adapt to changes with ease.
The assistant coordinator will oversee the day to day operations such as planning, preparation, execution, and communication of the Club’s field hockey programming. The assistant coordinator will report to the Operation Coordinator and the President. Essential responsibilities of the position include:
- Coordinator will support the Operation Coordinator in maintaining the master coach and trainer schedule as needed.
- Coordinate and plan field hockey events such as tournaments, clinics, and other assigned events
- Lead the coordination for the Training Group One Program
- Ensure quality control at all field hockey events
- Keeper of the club’s equipment and property including storage and inventory

3) Communications Coordinator
This person will be taking on a very important role that is beyond content creation. We are looking for someone to not only deliver the Nighthawk's message, but also to expose the public to the sport of field hockey in an engaging way.
The coordinator will be responsible for a rich and innovative communication strategy. The coordinator will report to the President. Essential responsibilities of the position include:
- Coordinator will be the holder of the master communication strategy. They will develop and deliver this strategy for the duration of the summer
- Delivery of the strategy includes knowledge and use of platforms like instagram, facebook, mailchimp, wordpress, canva, and the full MS Office suite.
- Knowledge of the Meta Business Suite is a bonus.
- Coordinator will coordinate and attend community events (field hockey or otherwise) to deliver in person information about the club and field hockey (example: Ottawa Farmer’s Market)
- Attend field hockey sessions to collect content
- Ensure quality control and cohesion of all communication from our organization.
Most of this role can be delivered from home, but events must be attended in person. This role will be full time at 35 hours a week for 16 weeks. The pay will be $20/hour, paid bi-weekly. The coordinator is expected to:

4) Community Project Consultant
This person will be working on The Centre Project full time. We are looking for someone with experience or interest in community engagement and business.
The consultant will work directly with the President and Centre Coordinator to advance the project through big ideas. Essential responsibilities of the position include:
- Seek out community groups, business and organizational contacts to further the Field Hockey Centre project
- Plan and execute events that increase the awareness of the project
- Develop fundraising plans
- You will have a lot of flexibility in this job so we are looking for someone with loads of self initiative who doesn’t have to be told to do something twice!
