OBJECTIVE
TG1 is a competitive training program for junior Nighthawk athletes to excel in competition. This program is for athletes who consider field hockey their primary sport for the duration of the program. This season’s program will include field hockey training, fitness training, and sport-psychology preparation.

WHAT AND HOW
TRAINING GROUP 1 • U14 GIRLS • MAY 2024 – JULY 2024
In 2024 TG1 will train and participate in competition across Ontario and the US. The Nighthawks will have an open tryout to select the Training Group 1 (TG1) training squad. The training squad will hold up to 20 athletes to develop the best possible team for competition. The maximum roster size is 16 players for tournaments. Those who are not selected for the tournament rosters will still train with the team as alternates and to continue developing.

PROGRAM EVENTS
TRY-OUTS • MINTO FIELD • MAY
Thuesday May 9th, 5:30-7:00 pm
The coaches and evaluators will assess which athletes will be included to train in the TG1 program. A roster of up to 20 athletes will be selected. The tryouts are free.
TG1 TRAINING • MINTO FIELD • MAY – JULY
Hockey skills, tactics, team training, fitness training, and sport-psychology preparation will be part of the TG1 program. This training is in addition to your regular Nighthawk training. The frequency of this training will be once every other week in May and June, and twice a week in July.
COMPETITON • VARIOUS
This year the team will be scheduled to participate in some of the following competition depending on the group’s availability:
- OKD Tournament, Brampton, May 18-19th
- (Nighthawk Rec teams will participate in the Brampton Warriors tournament (CFHCC) June 8-9 and Nepean Junior Fest June 15-16)
- A&C Junior Tournament, Brampton, July 15-16, 2023
We are also actively looking into tournaments in the US for July.
PREPARATORY MATCHES • VARIOUS • MAY – JULY
The TG1 team will participate in various matches in preparation for the Games. This may include limited travel, but we will try to keep it local while still finding competitive competition.
BUDGET
The tentative total cost for the program is the following:
